Best Place in Philippines to Retire page heading

Over the past 6 years we have helped people to retire to Chiang Mai, Thailand and to Cebu, Philippines, and now we are adding the new retirement hotspot "Cambodia".

In that time we have helped hundreds of clients vacation in and retire to Chiang Mai.

Not one client told us that they want or need the traffic chaos of Bangkok or wants pollution or wants to retire to a place where it is unsafe or crime ridden.

Basically, our clients want safe, clean, affordable and that is true for Thailand and Philippines, and Cambodia.

We will compare and contrast three of the most popular retirement destinations in Cambodia and this will give you a good idea which is most suitable for you.

Phnom Penh is the capital city of Cambodia. Often the first place foreigners see when they arrive by air to Cambodia.

Siem Reap is a small town similar to Chiang Mai but newer and a hidden treasure in terms of retirement destinations. Easy to get around, other retiree's to talk to and meet, and bars, restaurants and many low priced yet nice guesthouses for initial or long term accommodations.

Sihanoukville is the beach resort and a small town setting with some excellent beaches and again low cost accommodations and other foreigners vacationing and living in retirement.

For the person who wants more places to visit, more variety and choices in terms of accommodations including house rentals then Phnom Penh is the top choice in Cambodia.

If you are ok with a smaller town setting and prefer to be able to get around town more easily and quickly then Siem Reap is the top pick in Cambodia. The cost of living is lower here plus a more relaxed, slower paced setting where it is easier to meet retiree's from around the world.

If you need or prefer a beach setting then Sihanoukville it the place for you.

Each of these cities has it's own charm and uniqueness. And if you are unsure which you would prefer and you enjoy some features of larger city life, some features of small town setting and enjoy ocassional trips to the beach then try each of them out and you can decide which is best for you.

And you have the option of staying in one location for part of the year and then in another location for the remainder of the year.

And with the low cost of transportation it enables one to live in Siem Reap for example for part of the year and then go to Sihanoukville beaches as a change of pace.

It is like living in Canada and going to Florida during the winter months but costing less to get there, costing less to live there and visit there and with much nicer beaches.

The best of all worlds!!!

At this time we recommend Siem Reap as the best place in Cambodia to retire. Much lighter traffic compared to Phnom Penh, easier to get around, affordable cost of living and generally a friendlier environment.

Sihanoukville is our second choice and especially if you like the beach setting. The climate is a bit cooler than Siem Reap or Phnom Penh and suited more for younger, beach lovers.

If you want the nightlife then you can visit Phnom Penh but for a retiree to live there is like living in Bangkok or Manila and not condusive to a relaxed, quieter, ease of movement lifestyle.
